Lakeland Leads is delighted to announce that Alice Hunt, a well-connected local business and civic leader, has joined Lakeland Leads Executive Board. Lakeland Leads is a non-partisan, independent, 501c-3 non-profit whose mission is to engage the business community in transforming Lakeland’s public school system to produce graduates with 21st Century skills, post-secondary credentials, and workforce readiness. Lakeland Leads President, Dr. Melody Rider, stated, “Alice is an excellent addition to Lakeland Leads Executive Board. She brings a wealth of experience with her years of service to our community and ongoing support of our Polk County Schools”.
Alice is Representative Scott Franklin’s Congressional District 18 District Director, a district that covers most of Polk County down to Okeechobee. This is the largest agricultural district east of the Mississippi. Formerly Alice served as vice president of Hunt Construction of Central Florida, Inc., specializing in residential and commercial construction in the Central Florida area.
In addition to her professional work, Hunt is active in the community. She is a past chairman of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and received the Chamber’s prestigious George Jenkins Award for 2017. She served as chair of the Charter Review Commission for Polk County in 2018 and has served on the boards of the Early Learning Coalition, Polk State College Foundation, Lakeland Economic Development Council, and the Central Florida Speech and Hearing. She has served on the Polk County Builders Association Board and Chaired its Foundation Board, receiving the President’s Award and the Eagle Award.
At Present, she serves as Chairman of the Florida Polytechnic Foundation’s Board.
Alice is a graduate of the University of South Florida. She and her husband, Chuck, have three children and six grandchildren. She and her husband reside in Lakeland.
